Employee Spotlight: Apollo Berg

Apollo Berg

There’s an old quote by Mark Twain that goes, “Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” I’ve found that especially true in my more than 20 years working in the same department for Enstrom. My name is Apollo Berg and I work in the sheet metal and sub-component and assembly department. Specifically, I help create the metal seat structures and consoles used in both turbine- and piston-powered aircraft.

Even after two decades, I still feel an immense sense of pride watching our helicopters fly off the factory lot, knowing they will be put to good use around the globe.

For anyone who knows me, it should come as no surprise that I found my passion in shaping metal. All my life, I’ve had an interest in working on cars and tractors, from repairing the engines to fabricating parts. However, my first real job after high school didn’t involve metal at all, but wood. I’d been trying to follow in my father’s footsteps and pursue work as a lumberjack, yet I quickly discovered lumberjacking just wasn’t something I saw myself doing long-term.

So, after trying my hand at a handful of other professions, I came across a job posting with Enstrom for a sheet metal worker. The aviation world had always piqued my interest, so I jumped at the chance to apply. Enstrom took a chance on me, and the rest is history.

When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our dog. We’re both outdoorsy folks. You can usually find me out in nature, hunting, fishing, or chopping firewood. My passion for cars never went away, and I still find a thrill in piecing them together in my spare time.

When you pour more than 20 years of your life into your workplace, you’re bound to experience some company highs and lows in that time. That being said, I could not be more excited for the future of Enstrom. New owner Chuck Surack has crafted the perfect environment for the new Enstrom leadership team to thrive. There’s a renewed sense of camaraderie and optimism on the factory floor. I am beyond proud to play an essential part in shaping the next chapter of Enstrom’s story.
