Employee Spotlight: Jackie Kamps, Marketing Manager

Jackie Kamps

My name is Jackie Kamps, but ever since my first HAI HELI-EXPO show, you’ll commonly hear me referred to as “Mother Hen.” Roger Sharkey gave me the nickname based on my ability to herd the team to the shows and meetings, and the nickname stuck.

That was nearly 20 years ago in 2005. For the two decades prior to me officially joining the Enstrom team, I worked as Enstrom’s travel agent. I was then hired as a product support and sales admin. I became a jack of all trades, helping in all areas from parts and aircraft orders to advertising and direct customer interactions.

My blood turned Enstrom blue, and my passion for Enstrom has only grown since then. As the marketing manager, I help plan Enstrom’s appearance at trade shows, organize community activities, schedule photo shoots, and arrange customer visits. Essentially, I’m the go-to person at Enstrom for anyone outside the company. Roger will often say, “She may not always know the answer, but she always knows how to find it.”

I love the people I work with, but another perk of my job is being able to travel and make friends with rotor enthusiasts around the world.

The factory shutdown a few years ago was hard for all of us. Enstrom is like a family for our employees. We support and count on one another. That’s why I and so many others were thrilled to be called back home when Chuck Surack purchased the company.

Before Chuck became owner, he was a customer whom I helped purchase his 480B. We were excited to welcome him into the fold. I strive to approach all customer interactions this way, treating every customer like a part of the Enstrom family. Without our loyal customers, we wouldn’t be in business!

One of my favorite aspects of my job is to show off our facilities to Enstrom owners and pilots. They always find it fascinating to catch a behind-the-scenes glimpse at how we build our aircraft. Our employees also get to share the love and pride they have for their work.
